Hi Ladies!!! Back again with another recap!!! Sure you can guess what this was about from the name? Well, you guessed right, it was a Career workshop hosted by a multi-faced HR professional as she shared with us from her wealth of experience We had the absolute delight of hosting Oyinkansola Bernard for our community event last month. Oyinkan currently works as HR Business Partner with a leading Oil & Gas company with experience across multiple countries in the MEA region. She is also the founder of Ako Africa, a wearable art clothing line to showcase African talent both home and abroad. When she's not doing either of those two things she is defining the strategy for HRbreakoutroom with her co-founder. Talk about multiple hats? It was such an informative session packs with loads of tips along a job search and career journey CV Writing || Interview Preparation || Standing out in the Workplace CV Writing A big No No is to never put your full address on your resume. You can put the area where you live but never the full address. These are for security reasons. Here's a CV sample shared during the session for some additional best practices to keep in mind Interview Preparation Before the interview, Prepare by doing the following Practice Common Questions, Prepare Examples of your work, Look Presentable Be Early Make a good Impression During the interview, respond to questions using the STAR Approach. This helps to ensure your answers are well structured S - Situation T - Task A - Action R - Result Standing out in the Workplace Its not over when you get the job, define your brand and maintain it. What kind of colleague or employee would you like to be known as? The reliable one or the gossip? When you think about standing out, remember, its the PIE model P - Performance - How you perform at tasks? [10%] I - Image - How others see you? [30%] E - Exposure - Who knows about you and what you do? [60%] Can you believe the weight on each of those? Next time, you hesitate to self promote, think about the PIE model Wow....that was a lot...and it wasn't even up to 60% of what was shared. The session which was filled with lots of fun anecdotes and the insightful Q&A session from the audience which resulted in some interesting conversation about participants backgrounds. If there are specific areas you would like to dig deeper into at a future community event, please share in the comment section. We are all ears or should I say ears in this case! P.S: Reminder to apply these tips as you apply for the ATG Internship Program. Click here to apply and find out details

Hi Ladies, Hope you are doing great! As part of our efforts to ensure that even if you miss an event, you can still gain some insights from the wealth of knowledge shared by our speakers. We will do our best to summarize some of the insights but you know it's never the same as being there in person, so please be sure to come through for the next one if you can. In March, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting Chiso Okorafor who transitioned from a Project Manager role in the Construction industry to now a Product manager role in the Tech sector a few years ago. Chiso is currently a Product manager at Decagon. She is a registered Architect and an active member of the PMI as a certified PMP, PMI Exam workshop facilitator. She is also a Project Team lead for slum2School and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. Is she outstanding or what? She shared about how she was able to transfer a lot of her Project Manager skills to Product Management particularly the influencing skills in achieving the set goal with key stakeholders. Though there are many similarities, she recommended that a product management education or certification helps provides a great foundation for anyone considering getting into or transitioning into the field. Below are a few resources and a job opportunity shared. At Decagon, applications are currently open to help 200 smart Nigerians become world-class software engineers through the DecaDev program. To apply:http://bit.ly/decadev-wa You can also gain a Google certificate on Project Management by completing the newly launched course. Click here for more details Would like to congratulate Ayomide Ayorinde for winning the ice breaker quiz. The prize was a 1x1 mentoring session with Chiso. We look forward to hearing about it sometime soon.🎉🎊 Last but not least, Thank you so much to Tamilore Oni for being our host for the day!!! If you attended the session, please share some of your takeaways in the comment section or just represent by saying "I was there" 😁
